What Is an Encore?

When a musician finishes a concert, the audience stands, applauds, and asks for one more song.

An encore isn't just another performance. It's the moment everyone hoped would happen.

The artist returns to the stage and plays the song people have loved the most—the one that has stood the test of time.

I've often thought about that. Because I believe life has an encore too.

Not because we're getting older. Because we've become wiser.

I call this season my Encore because I believe it will be my best song.

Not my first success. Not my biggest title. Not even my busiest season.

My best. Why?

Because everything I've lived through—the victories, the disappointments, the lessons, the mistakes, the healing—has prepared me for this moment.

Now I get to take everything life has taught me and use it to help someone else discover theirs.

I don't believe our value decreases with age. I believe it deepens.

If You're Still Here, You're Still Called

One of my deepest convictions is this: If you're still here, God isn't finished with you.

Your purpose hasn't disappeared. But your assignment may have changed.

There are seasons for building careers.

Seasons for raising families.

Seasons for achieving.

And there are seasons for guiding.

For mentoring.

For serving.

For becoming the person your younger self was being prepared to become.

Sometimes we mistake the ending of one assignment as the ending of our purpose.

It isn't. It's simply an invitation into the next one.

Discovering Your Encore

The hardest part of entering an encore isn't figuring out what's next.

It's letting go of what was.

Before we can embrace a new assignment, we have to release the old one.

The titles.

The expectations.

The identity we built around what we did.

The disappointments.

Even the victories.

Every chapter deserves gratitude before we turn the page.

Only then can we begin asking different questions.

Who am I when no one needs anything from me?

Who would I become if I wasn't trying to prove myself anymore?

Who would I love to serve?

What wisdom has life given me that someone else needs today?

Who belongs in my circle now?

What breaks my heart enough that I can't stay silent about it?

Those questions don't point you backward.

They point you toward your encore.

Your Best Season May Still Be Ahead

Our culture often tells us that life's most meaningful years are behind us.

I don't believe that.

I believe there comes a season when we stop striving to become successful and begin living from who we've become.

That's where peace replaces pressure.

Where wisdom becomes more valuable than ambition.

Where influence becomes deeper than achievement.

Where your story becomes someone else's hope.

Maybe this season looks different than you imagined.

Maybe it's quieter.

Maybe it's slower.

Maybe it's completely unexpected.

But different doesn't mean less.

It may actually be the season you were being prepared for all along.

Because your encore isn't about holding on to who you were.

It's about becoming who you've always been.

And if you're still here...

...your best song may be the one you haven't sung yet.
